A company of calibre

Whether in your car, in the theatre, in a 3-star restaurant, or in a hospital, on the patio, under an umbrella, or when camping - we are constantly surrounded by textiles.

Textiles ensure that we feel well, that we are safe and clean; they ensure warmth or cooling, they keep off heat, sun or rain. From the first nappy to the last shirt we cover ourselves almost all the time in the most varied kinds of materials, in dinner jackets or bathing costumes, in T-shirts or overalls, in evening dresses or dressing gowns, in ski-suits or negligés, in uniforms or carnival costumes.

There is no other material that man is happy to have so close to him for so long: fabrics have become our second skin. However, we use all kinds of textiles not just for clothing and for decorating our homes but also for various technical applications which have completely different demands. Textiles are one of the most versatile and adaptable of all materials.

For over five decades we have been finishing all kinds of textiles and fitting them out for various sorts of applications, we coat, print, glue-laminate and quilt. In our laboratories we are constantly testing new techniques and possibilities and are optimising existing processes. As we do this, new areas of application continuously develop.

Please form an impression on the following pages of our varied possibilities and test our abilities. We are happy to take on any new challenge and strain every fibre for the fulfilment of your wishes and the solution of your problems.

Responsibility and quality

The van Clewe group has got a high responsibility towards the environment, which we comply with the use of latest treatments. This is exemplary shown in the new development of a waste-water treatment plant in the nineties, which was awarded and supported by the German Environment Foundation.

By the comprehensive use of further treatments, e.g. waste air purification system or waste heat recovery system, we meet the responsibility to our environment also in the direct production field. By the implementation of our certificated environmental management system according to ISO 14001 it is granted, that accountable, effective action will always be part of our business venture.

Over 200 committed and highly skilled employees carry out full manufacturing, 100% made in Germany. Together with these employees we want to reach our ultimate quality ambition, namely to deliver qualitative perfect goods “from the first to the last metre” to our clients. A for many years successful implemented quality management according to ISO 9001 is helping to achieve this aim. Furthermore the company has got the seals of quality “Ökotex” and “Euroblume” as well as sundry customer-specific certificates.

Social responsibility is also an important subject at van Clewe. Among other things the compatibility of family and job is crucial. Thus, for instance, we have setup an in-house child-care centre for employees’ children. This unusual commitment of medium-sized companies was honoured among other things from the city Wesel with an award “most child-friendly company in town 2008”. Social responsibility means also to provide young people a career outlook. For instance the van Clewe group offers nine different jobs that require training:

- fabrics product finisher
- fabrics laboratory assistant
- factory electrician
- industrial mechanic
- industrial clerk

Our effort is always to take these qualified employees after their apprenticeship over in an employment.

Dry finishing
Unsere Trockenausrüstung

Our Dry Finishing includes

Raising:
for cotton and PES up to 320 cm for cloth, knitted and crocheted fabrics.

Shearing:
for all substrates and surfaces, for velours, velvety fabric, velveteen and other velvet-like quality levels.

Emerizing:
for the surface treatment of all textiles in order to optimise the handle and to improve its look (peach-skin effect). Width up to 220 cm.

Embossing:
up to 220 cm for the embossing of patterns and the calendering of textiles. The goods are optically altered by the use of a pattern template. Dimensions can also be achieved, depending on the thickness of the substrate.

Wet finishing · colouring / pre treatment

The complete wet treatment  is comprised in various machines up to 320 cm width. These machines are available for both elastic  as well as non-elastic  goods for all ‘substrata’ (CO/PES/PA/CV/LI …). With the application of a two-stage preliminary treatment (removing smoothness + pre-bleaching) the production processes  are shortened. Increasing demands for quality can be optimized. With width and skein machines we can offer 6 different dyeing processes – (reactive, substantive, indanthren, dispersion, pigment and sulphur).

The investment in a HT (high temperature) jigger in 2008 has increased the possibilities in wet treatment. Consequently ,today there are altogether 5 dyeing installations available.

The range extends from a KKV (Continue) through jigger, AT jigger, HT-beam to skein dyeing (Discontinue). An ultra-modern laboratory supports the exact reproducibility of laboratory to production.

Nassausrüstung · Färberei/Vorbehandlung
Tumbling · sanforizing · cloth inspection

The lengthways and sideways tumbler gives an optimum handle and clime. As a result of the mechanical treatment of the material, both transverse and hank, it is broken down in an optimum manner and a soft handle is achieved.

Sanforization for shrinking the material in line with exact rules. An undesired, delayed in-feed of the material can thus be avoided.

Our own goods inspection process guarantees a level of quality assurance for every metre that leaves our factory. Our own especially trained personnel works at modern inspection machines to inspect for faults and check quality in addition to our production-integrated permanent quality control.

The high-pile machine: Can single-fold and stack material up to 300 cm so that the goods can be despatched, stored and worked upon in a space-saving manner.

coating · finishing

Six frames of up to 320 cm in work-width provide a broad range of possibilities for coating. PU and acrylate- and colour coatings are part of our daily work as is foam coating. Two colour prints are made with the help of templates. Full surface conglutination is also possible.

The pads on the frames enable various functional finishes, such as Aloe Vera, flame-retardant according to DIN 4201 B1, M1, Teflon, Silvercare, etc...

laminating · quilting

Two laminating installations are operating continuously in the production of single and sandwich composite materials.

These functional materials are used in motor manufacturing (interior side-door linings, armrests and storage areas/surfaces, etc. …) but also in the health and medical fields – (fluid impermeability).

The broad field of event marketing can also profit from these possibilities, in addition also the clothing industry, interior sun protection blinds and the upholstery industry.

Through the use of our own straight stitch sewing machines the net product value can be even more increased.

Widths from 240 cm are feasible. The repertoire of patterns/designs offers individual possibilities for composite materials from up to five layers.
